Summer vacation 2024 - Our first trip by motorhome to Europe
Wow, what a great vacation. Our first trip with a camper is over and we are left with lots of new experiences.
The holiday started with the Kiel ferry and we headed towards Lübeck.
Then there were small German towns on the way down to the Alps. We mainly drove down road 7, but took the Romantic Road from Dinkelsbühl and down to Füssen.
The next days were alpine with a great bike ride to Neuschwanstein, and swimming in the lake. We stayed at Campingplatz Bannwaldsee which was a great starting point to discover the area. In addition, it was great to swim there with clean and nice water. Read more about our days in the picture below.
Then we went on to Austria and Italy. There we found a fantastic campsite by the lake Lago di Caldoazzo. This was quite possibly the nicest experience of the trip. Read about our stay here .
Our destination for the holiday was Lake Garda and here we arrived, and there we got a place at Camping Lido . It was a great place, but it was incredibly hot.
Because of the heat we headed north again and discovered a beautiful town called Arco. We stayed here for a few days and this was the last stop before we drove back to Austria.
On the way home we turned right in Innsbruck and were lucky to discover Regensburg. Camping Azur was a great place to stay along the Danube. Amazingly beautiful to cycle into Regensburg from this campsite.
Then we headed towards the Czech Republic and experienced the Rodelbahn St. Englmar. This was something the whole family thought was fun. Then a few nights in Cham and Plauen on the way up to Dresden .
We ended Germany by experiencing Tropical Island
The last few days were spent taking the ferry from Rostock to Trelleborg, and then a few nights along the west coast of Sweden.
We stayed healthy throughout the holiday, no problems with the car and we didn't experience any major discomfort. Traveling in Europe felt safe and comfortable for us. We used park4night, google maps + chatGPT to find places to stay and cities to discover.
